I haven't been here since I was a very small child (my grandma later told me I was 5 when they took me). It did not disappoint! We even walked the grounds, which was a first for all of us. However, my boyfriend, his mother and her husband and I were stuck in a large group of small children with only three other adults (seemed to be a school outing). A very unique experience. I know where im going if world war 3 breaks out
We've been to three caves in the past few years and unfortunately, Cave of the Mounds is a very distant third. Lots of hype, but the cavern itself is short and relatively colorless. Unprompted, my kids said it was "lame." It's an expensive 30 minute activity. They did enjoy the sand/sluicing activity, so not all was lost.
