I have donated to Carter Blood over a number of years. It is a group of thoughtful people who are there to help make the process easy and fairly painless. You are helping people who need blood for surgery and various issues where they can't make new blood for themselves. It helps people from North Texas and east Texas. Carter Mesquite donors & employees ROCK! My fave site.
So I've been donating with Carter BloodCare since high school with no issues. I go to work (on my day off before I head to San Antonio) and am now told I am ineligible to donate because of a heart issue that I've had since 2007 (in high school)... don't get me wrong I get health and safety but the fact that it hasn't been a problem and I've told them every time is absolute horse crap. Blood from a donor I didn't know who donated through Carter BloodCare made a huge difference in my life. I was severely anemic and it was causing me to have extreme shortness of breath. After my transfusion I was able to breathe without additional oxygen and could leave the hospital. I have been on both sides. I was an employee with CBC for 12 years and a patient of CBC. One thing is the same. Nothing happens without the donor. You make the difference. Thank you!
I have worked here 37 years this upcoming January and I have been a donor prior to starting to work here. It is such a special feeling to know you are saving another person's life with the Gift of Life and I hope to have many more years of donations and work to come.
