Dr. Carson seems to be a good doctor, but her office staff is unresponsive to requests by patient portal and to questions by phone message. She has a medical assistant rather than a nurse handle medical calls; this person is not advanced enough in her training to handle medical questions from patients, and the information she conveys from the doctor is insufficient. Dr. Carson is my gastroenterologist and I have had many visits with her and she has performed a few cycles of scheduled procedures. She is tops! I had been with one other Atlanta-area Gastro and that was fine until I developed some specific issues. I realized that I was going to have to trade up to a doctor who was info-centric and forthcoming and ready to deal with any and all of my questions and take all the time needed with me. I met with Dr. Carson for a virtual appointment and it was a wonderful experience. She's friendly, knowledgable and empathetic. I will certainly be back if I have any issues (so hopefully I will not have to be back.)
Dr. Carson did not have a particularly warm personality but I feel she was an adequate doctor. I am giving a bad review because the anesthesiologist that she uses does not take insurance and is considered out of network, causing patients to get a surprise bill. Patients are not really in a position to tell the Dr. what anesthesiologist to use. I will not being going back to her practice for this reason and will not refer her. I’m 73 yrs old and have been to numerous gastroenterologists over the years in the Atlanta area...she is the dead level BEST! I’ve never had anyone spend so much time and her medical expertise is excellent!! An answer to prayer!!
I created an account on here just to write a review regarding my visit with Dr. Carson. I read reviews for everything and I am a "yelper" myself. The doc was knowledgeable and thorough. Two qualities that are important to me. Some might say she's direct, actually she would say that she's direct lol but i'd rather have that than the fluffy stuff. If you're looking for a doc that specializes in GI, choose her. You won't be disappointed. I will also add that the office staff was also stellar. I lik
I was a patient of Dr. Carson’s in 2012 and moved to a different state. When we came back to GA I returned to her care because I feel like she does a really good job explaining the different diagnosis and treatment options. I’ve always found her very thorough and also considerate about how treatment differences can impact my QOL.
Dr Carson, her nurses and staff were all great! Dr Carson answered my questions and my colonoscopy could not have gone more smoothly.
Nobody wants to talk about GI issues, but Dr. Carson is so easy to talk to about just that. She relates on a personal level and stresses that you are not alone. I highly recommend her.
