There is an informal tradition among Baltimore waitresses to address customers as 'Hon' (pronounced to rhyme with 'bun.') Over the years, the term has come to symbolize the town's casual hospitality` and as such, it suits this friendly café perfectly. Located in Hampden, it has the ambiance of a suburban kitchen circa 1955, and the menu fits the décor just right. Dishes like Four Cheese Lasagna and 'Much Better Than Mom's' Meatloaf are guaranteed to stick to your ribs, and the Crab cake Platter does Baltimore p... read more

enjoyed my visit and food....so Baltimore Hon can't wait to do it again
Love the crab cake with shrimp salad sandwich!!! It's super yummy!
I live in the neighborhood, and Cafe Hon has always been a great place to get a meal when you don't feel like cooking, or getting fancy with your meal. My husband and I ordered burgers and fries for dinner. The burgers are delicious! I had the Woodberry Burger. The patty was juicy and tender, cooked perfectly, and it came with sauteed onions and special sauce, which were tasty (I ordered without the arugula - it's overrated). My husband enjoyed his burger, which was a make-to-order bacon cheeseburger. The fries were shoe-str... read more
I had the Old Bay club sandwich which was a crab cake, shrimp salad, bacon, lettuce and tomato in a triple decker club sandwich format. Sooo good, and a unique presentation of the ubiquitous Baltimore crab cake trope. Plus I had the creamy crab soup, because when in Rome...er, Baltimore, crab is the name of the game. Everything was excellent in a quirky little cafe. My kind of place.

Thank you so much Leslie for this lovey review.
My first time here. The food and service was great. It had a real small town feel. I would definitely return.
My son recommended it and was he spot on. The Cream of Crab soup and Maryland soup was perfectly spicy delicious. My husband loved the vegetable wrap, and my Hon salad with that delicious dill vinegerette dressing was amazing. But the fries with gravy were simply fantastic. Just wish I had room for that amazing apple pie! Well it just requires another visit. Oh and the ambiance was wonderful. Cozy and eclectic!
Awesome. The shrimp salad was great! The cream of crab ok. Waiter/waitress excellent . Took awhile for food but not a empty seat in the house. I definetly would go back.
First of all, wine Wednesday...incredible deal! Secondly, I ordered the Cuban sandwich, which was one of their specials. This is a non traditional Cuban served on cornbread with bacon. Need I say more? It was even better than it sounded!
Everything was good. Everyone was nice. The owner was right there making sure we were happy. My grilled chicken with blueberries, strawberries and feta salad was really good. My wife had a carmelized salmon healthy type dinner that she loved. The place was packed but our waiter "Manny" took great care of us. Next time I gotta try the meatloaf.
