I just don't get it! – The high ratings this place is getting is mind boggling. Price is decent, portions are large, place has a nice old school Italian feel, but that's where it stops. The food is terrible, very poor taste, and service leaves a lot to be desired. Skip this place.
A disappointing valentines dinner – We just returned from Buca and we were very disappointed. We normally order the mozzarella garlic bread appetizer, and discovered it had changed. It was cut up toasted piece of french bread with a few mozzarella sprinkles on it. Worth about $1.50 - it cost 9 bucks. We asked the waiter and he said it changed from the former flat bread version about a month ago. It was terrible. great spot – To my pals, you will love Buca. Great atmosphere. The pasta is amazing. By the way, this is just a test.
Great place for friends – In short if you have a group of friends or a large crowd this is a great place to go eat. The service is good and the food is great served in a family style format
Family Value Good Food – The restaurant is purely gaudy to the point that it's fun and entertaining to be there. Reading the "Miss Buca" profiles on the walls are hilarious and seeing kids cover their eyes passing the peeing fountain is always funny. The waiters always seem on top of things and are very friendly, one was even so honest as to bring out a $20 accidentally dropped on the floor. May have been the worst wait service I have ever had in a restaurant. – Yes, it was Christmas Eve. Yes, it was busy. But there is no excuse for a restaurant of Buca di Beppo's rating to treat customers with poor service. From 5:30 to 9:30 with 11 customers seated in our group, we received a total of 2 loaves of bread. It took 40 minutes to get a bottle of wine, 30 minutes for a bar drink. Good southern Italian – This is good if you're dying for southern italian dishes and need someting close. I grew up near a 'little italy' and we have nothing even close in jax fl, but this comes as close as it gets. Bucca is a chain but tastes better than most chains i've been to.
Bucca Di Planet di hollywood – We used to love this place. The first time we ventured in there in early 2008 we had lunch and the sauce was amazing as was the garlic bread. So last night my husband who has been on a strict diet wanted his italian fix. Boy were we disappointed. Not for European Italians.... – ....but I returned once and maybe more in the future. I am new to the area and originally Italian so the first thing I do in a new city is to explore the dining scene. Beppo's does not serve authentic Italian food but to do so would require flying in the ingredients on a daily basis.
