Brent's Drugs

4.5

About this business

Nostalgia attracts people in droves to this old-school drugstore and soda fountain established in 1946. The interiors, complete with a prescription counter, vintage lanterns, comfy booths and lots of wood-paneling, will take you back in time. The menu offers burgers, sandwiches, salads and shakes just like the old times. Apart from this, Brent's serve a very popular lemonade, malts as well as floats. The ice-creams and sundaes are popular as well. A perfect place to tuck into comfort food.

Got a to-go order of cheese soup and egg salad, also ordered sweet. Told my "server" the tea wasn't sweet. Her: (shrug) I don't make the tea. Got a teeny bit of soup in a big container. Her: (shrug) I don't work in the kitchen. Got back to the office only to find that I got chicken salad instead of egg salad. It's not rocket science people!! Won't go back! Looking through the reviews, seems like they only respond to positive comments. :(

Love Brent's!! Have been there 3 times since the renovation and like it more with each visit. Special props to head chef Karl and waiter Josh. Y'all are great! Our waitress remembered our oldest son ordering a strawberry milkshake at our second visit. At our 3rd visit, she made him one complementary even though he was not there. Keep up the good work and I'll see you back soon!

Business response:

Thanks, Scott. We love seeing your family at Brent's!

I took out of town family to Brent's 2 weeks ago to give them a little of our Fondren Culture...but this is not the same Brent's we all know and love. The decor is beautiful however it was extremely hot and the menu is horrible. No Philly cheese!!! Portions are way smaller and prices are higher. 3 of the 6 Hamburgers ordered had to be sent back because the meat was not done. Only 3 flavors of milk shakes! My husband ordered a salad with his meal and he said it was the worst thing he has ever eaten! (And he eats anything!) I ... read more

I've been waiting quite some time to visit Brent's and I must say that I was beyond disappointed. Our server was not friendly, nor was she efficient. It took her no less than 7 minutes to bring a sweet tea after taking 10 minutes to even greet us, and another 3 to bring an unwrapped straw, which she placed directly on the table. Ew. I ordered the patty melt with a side of fries and both left much to be desired. The porcini oil made the beef, which was otherwise flavorless, taste odd. The aftertaste was a put off. The fries w... read more

This is not the Brent's I was looking forward to eating at. They took EVERYTHING off the menu. They even asked me what an Orangeade was and Brent's almost invented the Orangeade! Blasphemy! . The food is decent (except the fries and pickles), but it is not Brent's. They should do the community a favor and change the name. So much for continuing a historical tradition. The point of going to Brent's was to step back in time and the food does not fit the atmosphere. Call this restaurant what you want, but it ain't Brent's anymo... read more

Brent's use to be good. Now it is terrible! I don't know who is in charge of the menu, but they need to be fired! They took everything off the menu that people eat when they go there! Even the milkshakes are down to only 3 flavors. Very disappointing!

Business response:

Kelly. We are so sorry you feel this way! We are serving the Brent's classics like our egg and olive and Brent's burger. Now we make almost everything in-house like our homemade hamburger buns and breads, ice creams and even our syrups. We have an assortment of ice creams, shakes, malts, sundaes and floats so come back and see us again! Thank you again for your feedback.

Business response:

Sweet tea is ready and waiting. Hope to see you again soon!
