The tavern that rose from two fires to be the oldest restaurant in all of the town, is worth going to see based on History alone. The food, too, is a delicious range of traditional, home-cooked fare, made from scratch. The buffet menu offers a different variety of dishes each day and the numerous pies for dessert are a truly mouthwatering end to the meal. There is an event hall that seats up to 150 people. You can also pick up a couple of souvenirs to remember the trip from the small shop before you leave.

If you’re ever in the area, drop in and try their chicken. Awesome. And their pies are great, too.

We drove 4 hours yesterday to see the end of the fall colors and to visit a gem in the eastern part of Iowa along the Mississippi River Valley. We visited this a second time in a month because it was a beautiful wonderful way to top off our road trip. Not only was the food great (they also had a buffet-which isn't always easy to find)! They took good care of you as well which for me makes or breaks a restaurant. We will go back again. Thank you, Mike and your crew!

Always great!!! From the warm welcome to the margarita Mike's made me!!!! Love it. We'll be back!
No better family dining anywhere in Iowa! This family treats you like family and provides a feast that you will never forget. After dining, check out the beer garden or stop by the antique shops feet away, one of which hosts wine tasting and often has fun-filled live music. Make this your new home away from home!
We love to eat here. The food is always amazing and the service is perfect. Our favorite part is the owner Mike. He always takes the time to thank us and invite us back again.
