About this business

For almost two centuries the hotel has offered hospitality to locals and visitors alike. It began life in 1816 as a simple boarding house for summer visitors to one of America's earliest seaside resorts. Its owner, Thomas H. Hughes, called his new boarding house "The Big House". The local people had other ideas, though. Convinced the building was far too large to ever be a success they nicknamed it "Tommy's Folly". In this first incarnation it was a quite different affair. Good food; however, service suffers due to not enough wait staff.

Great Friendly staff however the food (Eggs Benedict) was below average. The Hollandaise sauce was package mix, not from scratch. The potatoes were out of a bag and likely microwaved. Both were barely warm. For the price, and from the discription on the menu I was expecting much higher quality. $24 for 2 Coffe, Eggs Benedict and an English muffin!

Oysters were mushy and a bit dirty, but good-tasting. The chef’s scallop special was trying too hard. The almond and garlic sauce was amazing, but the quinoa and goat cheese side was gummy and too heavy to balance. The quinoa and barley salad was great though Service was good. It’s off-season, so I give them a pass.
