About this business

For almost two centuries the hotel has offered hospitality to locals and visitors alike. It began life in 1816 as a simple boarding house for summer visitors to one of America's earliest seaside resorts. Its owner, Thomas H. Hughes, called his new boarding house "The Big House". The local people had other ideas, though. Convinced the building was far too large to ever be a success they nicknamed it "Tommy's Folly". In this first incarnation it was a quite different affair. My family and I stayed at Congress Hall during the Christmas season and decided to try the Blue Pig Tavern. We came for breakfast and we all loved it! I recommend the Congressional plate! Everything was cooked to our liking! We enjoyed it so much, we came back for dinner the same night! Their burgers are phenomenal! Our server, Natasha was wonderful! We had her both times! She was very attentive, helpful, and delivered prompt service! Great place!

First time there and it had become one of my favorites. The clam chowder is excellent. Which is tough picking a favorite in Cape May

The service was good. Way too loud to hold a conversation. Food is overpriced for what you receive.

Every time we come to Cape May, the Blue Pig Tavern is on our must list to eat at. I had the homemade meat loaf and it was delicious. Sharon had the Ale Battered Fish and Chips and they were great too. We started out with the shrimp cocktail and the shrimp were a nice size, crispy crunchy cold and an outstanding cocktail sauce ... the best I’ve had in some time ... with some nice “heat” to it. Their version of an Old Fashioned was called The Admiral. Perfect. Muddled orange and special cherries ... very nice! We’ll be back.
