Black Diamond Plumbing is a well-known company, but as for their competence and the way they price jobs is more like payday loans. They price jobs as a flat rate for parts & labor, this structure generally benefits Black Diamond, not the consumer. We had a bathtub/shower diverter that needed replacing. I supplied the replacement part while Black Diamond did the labor. The charge of $165 to just install this item is what I was quoted, I somewhat reluctantly agreed to this quote. I called Black Diamond for both an electrical and plumbing quote. I was told there was a $79 fee associated with a technician coming out. We would be charged one fee for both techs, and if services were provided, the fee would be waived. The plumber came out and explained what was needed. I was told that I would receive my bid via email; $79 was paid. The electrician came out later. When he finished, he stated there was an additional $125 fee for "investigating" the job; this was not previously mentioned. I called the office... read more

Contacted Black Diamond Plumbing & Mechanical in McHenry for their electrical services. The electrical box which holds the electric meter had come away from the house. All I needed was to have the box reattached to the house. The time involved was about 2 hours (which included about 15 minutes for the electrician to run home and get a certain shovel for digging down about a foot in the ground). Cost to have this done.....$744.30! I got that price after calling and was told the best they could do was give me a 10% discount. R... read more

Was told I needed a new furnace because my furnace was leaking carbon monaxcide. This was not true furnace was checked by two other companies and used for a year after told I needed new furnace. Spoke to someone else who was told same thing and purchased a new furnace

Black Diamond Plumbing & Mechanical, Inc. were called on 6/14/2016 by *** service after I came home to a flood from the *** installer who broke the hot water pipe connection to the wash machine. He was trying to tighten the packing on the shut off valve with one wrench. The plumber told us this was a PRE-existing condition. What? The plumber then used a crimp on tee when all of our copper was soldered. He was pre-hired by *** to replace the hot and cold shut off valves when *** found the packing leaking.
