Very happy with Beckett. They never surprise you with hidden fees. Everything is up front.
Beckett Marketplace is very shady. Dealers can renege on any order when they change their mind, e.g. realize their prices were outdated or too low. I submitted an order, and got the following email: "In reviewing your order, Your order has been approved." 2 days later, I got this: "Order refunded from Beckett.com Marketplace." There is NO way to leave dealer feedback when they renege on an order. So all the 4-5 star positive ratings are only based on fulfilled orders. So buyer beware! This is my first time having my cards graded and I'm very satisfied with their service. I mailed in 9. Cards and all of them were done within the turnaround time I requested . They always replied to my emails within the same day. The staff that I dealt with was very professional and provided me with excellent customer service.
Sent them a single card to be graded and sent back. Simple, right? I was quoted an extended time due to Covid, and they quoted 5-45 days depending on the service. Periodically, i would check in, and got little for an answer. I finally told them to just forget the grading and send my card back after them having it for 70 days. Beckett Media has a good product, good communication and is an overall company that I would work with at anytime.
I have only used them as a data bank for cards from the dealers that work with them. I have put in 3 orders through a couple of different dealers and have had great luck with getting what I order. So far I have had only positive dealings with them.
I sent in a 1989 Upper Deck Ken Griffey Jr RC to be graded. I have been collecting for many years and know a a lot about cards. The card I sent in was at worst a 9, probably a 9.5 Gem Mint. The card I received back was graded a 7.5, and WAS NOT the same card I sent in to be graded. They told me since I had no proof there was nothing they could do. Terrible!
I would think twice for before conducting business with this company. I really enjoyed sports cards over the years and reading the magazine at my library. However, my husband went in for a job interview in 2012 at the Chicago office and one of the managers was extremely rude and unprofessional!
