Transferring from one region to this one was a shock on not being able to continue the course of treatment that was working. It has cause me great harm mentally, physically, financially, and with my family. The doctors here have a God complex, but the nurses are great.
While it is nice to hear about all the good things going on within the Bay Pines Medical Center there are some serious problems that seem to never make the headlines. I requested my medical records through ROI (Release of information) June 15 2015 and when I did not have them by Aug 4 2015 I called them and was told that they never received the request. My husband just had surgery on his face Friday. I want to personally thank the wonderful surgeon, Dr. Saranceno & our wonderful nurse Quentin in recovery. Everyone there is the best. God bless you all!

Had such a bad experience with the mental health dept. Now I'm in crisis. I miss my Dr. at the Atlanta V.A so much; I expected comparable care here.. not the case..
With a few exceptions, which would be the case in ANY hospital, the doctors and staff at Bay Pines have always treated me well and with courtesy and respect. I had surgery there a week ago, and was very impressed by everyone involved in my care.
Clearly this place does not care about the veterans who served our country. When a veteran is in the worst pain of their life. The nurses asked my bf 5 times what is your pain from 0 to 10 and the answer was always 10.. and they wait 3 hours to be seen only to get zero work up, zero treatment, no x-rays nothing.. only to be told to go home and use icy hot. Why even ask how bad the patients pain is, if you're not going to treat it with so much as a tylenol or even try to find out what's wrong. This is not the first time I hav... read more
