So disappointing that BHM puts their wallet before the desire of the women who desire to have a midwife to deliver their babies and have more personal 1on 1 with their chosen caregiver. I would encourage anyone who wants a midwife to deliver their babies to seek a different alternative if BHM refuses to cooperate
BHM is only concerned with money, not a patients rights or wants.
The recent decision to remove delivery privileges from the midwives is a terrible injustice for the women who have chosen midwifery care. Choosing efficiency over evidence-based practice is despicable. My babies were delivered by midwives in the hospital and the midwife is the reason why my first didn't end up in a C-section! I cannot recommend BH Madisonville and will be recommending friends to travel to Owensboro now! I'm happy to change my review when the decision is reversed!
I’m extremely disappointed in the decision to remove midwives from the delivery room. A midwife saved my life following the birth of my son thanks to her wealth of experience. I know a lot of women who will not consider Baptist if they become pregnant in the future due to this decision - I know I am one of them.
Due to the most recent decision of not allowing midwives in the delivery room, I do not recommend BHM. The best experience during my pregnancy was with a midwife and I will travel elsewhere!
I’ll gladly change my rating to 5 stars if Baptist Health will continue Midwifery care. My wife has had a midwife with the birth of both of our children and we hope to continue using a midwife at Baptist Health Madisonville. If not, we will go elsewhere in the future.
For seven years and three pregnancies and births, I chose to drive an hour out of my way just to see a midwife. I am beyond disappointed in the choice to not let women have the choice of a midwife delivering their babies.
Midwives are essential for giving a woman her best chance for her body to do what it was designed to do in childbirth. Women want the option for low-intervention births. We, as the customers, demand the right to choose and KEEP our birth provider.
When my daughter in law gave birth to both of her little girls, her experience was amazing under the care of her midwife at BHM. However, the decision to not allow midwives in the delivery room has forced her and other women to find another hospital who will allow midwives to deliver their babies. This is not fair to these mothers and clearly is not in the best interest of the mothers. To see a midwife in the office and then be forced to have someone you have no relationship with to be involved in the most intimate setting o... read more
