Let me preface this by saying that I have been a loyal customer to Banfield for over a year now, along with being a member of the Banfield Optimum Wellness Plan, and until today, I had recommended Banfield to whoever asked for a vet recommendation. My loyalty stops today. I had taken my dog, ******, to Banfield in Watchung, New Jersey, on June 21 of this year for a stomach issue. This company knowingly charged my expired debit card for payment of my plan. When it didn't work, they charged me $20 fee. So, they basically knew the card wasn't going to work and when it didn't work they charged me for it. I had already updated my payment information on their website.

I have left my vet of 16 years because of the Banfield (**** that’s right a candy bar company) after my cat had spent 4 days at *****. My diabetic cat went in for a checkup after coming home from ***** it cost almost $300 and I got no information. My cat and me sat in my car for an hour waiting to be seen. On a 90 degree day. I transferred everything to another vet in town and the last record of visit on 7/21 only said check up for details no other information or what they did - what did they do for $300 and no plan for her ... read more

Their programs are too expensive. They did not mail medication as stated in program. I had to pick up medication at store. The Vet was unable to perform procedures she stated she could, but she did minor procedures so they could charge me for services. Customer service was awful.

I believe in being fair and honest in my reviews. I'm not one to judge a company on just one bad experience or the last experience (even though that one was bad). My dog recently passed away after 14 yrs. I have been with Banfield for 14 years so I believe I can make a fair assessment. About 50% of the time I've been satisfied, the other 50%...not so much. They should get no stars They killed my dog. charged me to do it. I took ***** in for a check-up because he threw up that morning. They had me drop him off told me they were going to run some test and call me. they called me back about 2 hrs later to come and get him. when I got there the doctor told me he has a heart murmur and we are going to put him on some medication for right now.evencually he would need an ultrasound and other treatment.
