I was reluctant to book having seen the reviews and having a negative experience with another rental company in the same building but my experience was actually positive. I think that was partly to do both many of the complaint reviews being in relation to issues when not purchasing the 0 excess cover - I did purchase that through Avis directly (my own choice when booking online) though it is very expensive especially as it’s charged by the day. Staff are friendly but my booking was changed without my notification so on arrival I was told I had booked a fully electric car. This wasn't the case and I was required to pay extra for an alternative. I had pre paid. The car I was given was poorly maintained with tyre inflation issues. Had to buy dust caps to rectify the problem. They were none existent and clearly grit was contaminating the valve seats. I strongly advise avoiding AVIS. They withheld my deposit in Dubai and never returned it. Despite my repeated complaints, nothing was resolved, and I could not find any way to escalate the matter to higher management. This has left me with no recourse to recover my money, and it raises serious concerns about their business practices.
