A let down... – Second time was not a charm. The service was rushed; we felt the staff wanted to turn out table ASAP. Food, particularly the pizza, was good and the wine list is very nice. The prices we paid would have suggested a higher level of service.
A Wonderful Experience – I went here for a special occasion and it ended up being a great choice. The food was fantastic! Our waiter was also very knowledgeable and recommended an awesome wine from his hometown in Italy. We both had the branzino and it was amazing! The dessert was also delicious! The only thing I would have to say I didn't like about the restaurant is that it is PACKED like sardines in there. The two top next to us was literally a few inches away- in fact we kept joking about it throughout the night because ... read more
Something different – LA makes Italian interesting; goes beyond lasagna with unique choices and tastes. Food was better than your run of the mill Italian place and there are plenty of specials. The room has too many tables, the one by the kitchen door is especially cramped. Service wasn't great, especially as the night went on. Even with a reservation, we had to wait 20-30 min. I'd go back for a lunch or an early dinner. The solo dining area was a breath of fresh air in a couple-centric world.
the best – I have been here a couple of times and have always been delighted. The food melts in your mouth, the vibe is fun, can be a little loud, but not too bad. I love the feel of the restaurant, small and cozy. The service is great, not pushy or obtrusive. I love this place!
I don't get the fuss – We decided to check this place out after seeing stellar reviews, and watching the crowds in front every weekend. My impression is that the food was just average... I've had better Italian at a number of places in L.A., and just about any place in NYC. But what really turned me off was our waiter. Yes, he was clearly born-in-Italy authentic, accent and all. He was also rude, brusque, disinterested, didn't offer any of the usual condiments (no "Parmesan or pepper, anyone?"). My water glass was never refi... read more
Excellent Food – I've been to Angelini Osteria several times now and in comparison to several other famous LA Italian restaurants (e.g. Valentino, Drago, Vincenti, Il Pastaio, Locanda Veneta), it is the best Italian restaurant overall. It has excellent food (the pasta carbonara is absolutely superb; the roast veal shank is soul-warming), a unique wine list with many small production wines served by the carafe and reasonable prices. It is definitely cramped and loud (given the fact that it is almost always crowded), but defin... read more
Food was great, ambiance was IMPECCABLE – Angelini Osteria is a very small Italian restaurant where the ambience and waitstaff couldn't be better. The dishes at Angelini are delicious and very light. They are filling, yet not too much to overwhelm you. All of the pasta is made fresh and it certainly comes through in the flavor. While the food is absolutely delicious, Angelini really shines in the courtesy and overall attitude of the waitstaff. Hands down the best experience I have had with waiters in my entire life. They are... read more
outsanding! – I just love this place! truly an authentic experience - some of the other reviews are just misguided! This place has personality and the food is exquisite. I guarantee you've never had lasagne like the lasagne verde on tehir menu - or the branzino, a traditionally european fish: where else in LA would you find this? Don't listen to the nay-sayers, just get into the urban brasserie-like vibe and enjoy.
Excellent! – Small and cramped, but completely worth it! The decor and wait staff are authentic Italian and, more importantly, the food is delicious from start to finish. The pumpkin torelli should not be missed and the Sunday special rack of lamb is a winner! Even if you're stuffed, the desserts are a perfect end to a great meal.
