You might be tempted to engage with some of the residents complimenting or waving at you as you walk with your kids on the nearby pavement. Please be aware that for an elderly resident waving politely, several more shouting at you will appear for no apparent reason... To avoid quite grotesque situations, just ignore them... Been there, tried to be polite and respectfully reciprocate... Never again.
