I purchased a new home and the previous owner utilized Amerigas. Since the tank was already in place and rented from Amerigas I decided to use them as well. Because the home originally had a gas dryer and stove that were converted to electric Amerigas informed me that they needed to do a safety inspection of the equipment prior to filling the tank with propane which is understandable. We had been on even-billing, and when we moved in April 2020 we had a $1680 positive balance on our account. I called several times in April and May of 2020 to provide our new address and follow-up on the refund of the positive balance. It was promised to be sent within 6 weeks. In September, I tried calling again (still cannot get through via telephone, since after 90 minutes on hold the call is auto-terminated). After 20 years of reasonable service Amerigas is totally useless in rural San Francisco bay area. They miss fillings, poor response to service calls. DO NOT USE!! Kamp’s or Dassel’s are far better and will actually take care of you, Amerigas has not fulfilled my service request and additionally placed a lock on my private tank!Illegal. In my community, they are negligent in filling tanks and numerous customers do not get service until they run out. If you have a choice, DO NOT US THEM.....

I have tried to get ahold of AmeriGas and they have long hold times, I have been on hold for 2 hours. I had a scheduled delivery and it never showed so now I am on another long hold for almost 2 hours just to try to get a delivery

Amerigas is in utter disarray after being taken over in whole by UGI. They are unable to provide delivery of propane, even for those on an "expedited" schedule. Our tank is bottoming out and we can't even get on a future schedule list. Their supervisors do not return phone calls, even when promises for them to do so are given by the company's telephone answering service personnel.

If we could give 0 stars we would. As per other reviewers, we recently switched to another company that was almost a dollar cheaper per gallon. Amerigas had no interest in retaining us as customers, and was completely unwilling to even match or reduce their rates. We happily switched companies, and have been waiting over two weeks for a response to our email to pick up one of their remaining tanks. We have, however, received the tank rent bill. Zero Stars. Avoid this company. This company has been astoundingly unreliable. Even before Covid it was difficult to reach anyone.. and talk about empty promises! No one ever calls you back. You get charged late fees while you await communication with the company. When we initially had the tank filled, my stepson literally had to take DAYS off of work in order for someone to be here, because we would be told we would get our delivery, and then no one would show up... over and over and over. If I could give this company zero starts it would still be too generous. We moved into a rental house with an Amerigas propane tank. It took us over a week to get our account set up and two weeks later we still don't have a firm delivery date for our tank fill. Call wait times are easily over 90 mins, but their system hangs up on you after about an hour and 15 mins in and you have to start all over again. Unable and unwilling to make deliveries. Despite repeated calls and a propane tank verging on empty, no response, no deliveries, and broken promises by customer reps on the telephone to have supervisors call us. Stay away, and change now if you are with them. UGI bought Amerigas out in whole and is in utter chaos. Can't manage or serve the customers anymore.
