American Veterans Aid did a fine job helping me get help housing my Father. Yes there was a lot of paper work that I did not understand but with their help we got thru it and though it did take awhile, Dad did get back pay and help up till his death. Some might complain about a fee I do not know any others that help for free. Again AVA did a fine job.
My mom and I never knew the Aid and Attendance benefit existed, so first, I have to thank my wonderful, longtime friend, Cate, who works for American Veterans Aid, for telling me about it. My mom, sister and I are pretty smart, organized and patient, but after seeing the mountain of paperwork required to apply for the benefit, there is really no chance we would or could have completed the application successfuly without the competent, professional and reliable guidance we received, every step along the way. This organization unscrupulously charges veterans and their families an exorbitant amount of money for services which are provided for free by state, local and nationally chartered organizations. $2300 for help with a pension claim?!?! It is illegal to charge for the application for the benefits so they dress up their charges as a "consulting fee" or "document gathering free" they are the worst kind of predatory organization. Shame on them!

Hi Kimberly, An individual must be accredited in order to help a claimant with the preparation, presentation and prosecution of a claim for VA benefits. The VA allows a person who is accredited to charge a fee for pre-filing consultation. A pre-filing consultation typically includes document and record reviews, along with any research, counseling or assistance that is needed before the claim is prepared. Everyone did a great job for my father. If I had a question or needed clarification they were always there to help me. We could not have done this without all the help. I would encourage any Veteran to utilize the AVA. Thank You!!

AVA has truly done a Great service to us. It would be hard to believe that the average person could do all the services they do. From the bottom of our hearts our family gives thanks to God and AVA.
I am very grateful to all the representatives at AVA. From the very beginning they were straight forward and told me what to expect. There was a lot of paperwork involved which would have been impossible to complete accurately, had they not helped. I called many many times with questions and they were extremely patient. There was a fee for their services but this is one case where one should not be penny wise, pound foolish.
