In August of 2016 my parents were looking to get an RV. They found one they liked at Camping World in Draper, UT. Camping World told them they would need a co-signer on the loan to get it, so they asked if I was willing and I said I would. My parents live about 4 hours away from Draper, so we made arrangements for my parents to sign their portion of the documents on a day that worked for them. I applied for a balance transfer from another financial institution in order to receive the much lower interest rate from the credit union. America First advertised cash back on balance transfers (up to $300) and seemed to be the best choice compared to other local credit unions for other reasons as well. I began the application process on a Thursday and was told on the phone that America First would send my payoff via FedEx once I had completed some forms. At first they were ok , but once you even become 1 month late on your car note it’s ovwe with. Was behind one month they came and took my car oh wait I’am now two months late because they have my car and I cannot pay , and they still report that your late to your credit , even if they have your car like how is that possible . I even called to negotiate how can redeem my car back , even with becoming current on my payments . My wife and I recently refinanced our home with AFCU to take advantage of the fantastic rates and shorter term. We've been members for many years and have had relatively decent service ranging from auto loans to general banking. The loan process was smooth and the mortgage loan officer and assistant were outstanding with communication and attention to detail. I called AFCU to find out if I can get a copy of my credit report. Thinking they are a credit union I bank with them. Why not give them a call. So you would think you would get better customer service because I'm giving them my money to hold. So there is trust there. But I call AFCU today and I get a Kelsey from Utah call center Dec 1st 2017 at 5:30 pm - 5:38 pm. PT. And I ask her Kelsey from the Utah AFCU call center can I have a copy of my credit report? First off I have to mention, if you're ever going to get an auto loan from these crooked people... DO NOT HURT YOURSELF AT WORK, THEY SIMPLY DO NOT CARE AND ALL THEY WANT IS YOIR MONEY.... I've banned here for about 3 years and recently I hurt myself at my job , resulting in workers comp, lost wages and a bank that was all over me for missed payments... Overall, my experience with America First CU has been positive. However, I had an issue with a Loan Officer at the 10767 S Redwood Rd, South Jordan, UT 84095 branch. I went to the branch to apply for a personal loan, and the loan officer there put through an application for me. Later, I recalculated the loan payments and total interest, but I was unable to get to the same amount that I was quoted by the loan officer. Went in to get a home equity to do some renovations. Told me the amount I wanted was over what my county taxes show its worth but if I wanted they could order an appraisal, costing $300 and would refund me should it appraise and I went through with the loan. Waited 10 days after the appraiser came before having to call them and get the work around. had to call someone I knew that worked there just to have someone call me about my appraisal.
