It's distressing to learn about the abuse that occurred at this care home, but I must admit I'm relieved that the care home has shut down. My father (with whom I had a mostly estranged relationship), was a resident there for a year. During that time, the care home manager embezzled over £4,000 from his account. Sadly, the police were too slow to investigate and couldn't establish her guilt. My loved one recently stayed at Alton House for a short period of time. I can not praise the staff enough. The care they showed made me and my family feel at ease. It’s always a worry when you have to place a family member in a care home but I was reassured by the manager and staff that everything would be fine. Thank goodness we found Alton House!

What can I say..... I feel incredibly sorry for the residents in the home, and the new manager, as they have alot to contend with, the state of the home is only one thing, but the director who is majorly in denial about things going on in the home. Filthy bedding, poor mattresses, broken moving equipment, that are completely unsafe for the use for the residents. No infection control or COSHH in place. Well what can I say apart from if you have somewhere else to place your loved one then please do so!! Some of the staff are lovely but being clean and tidy is not their forte! Every time I went to visit my Nan she was dirty with food and drink slopped down her clothes but her final day on this earth was the worst…how it was all dealt with was absolutely disgusting and the two women that were working there that night definitely need training!!
