Mexican Food for Gringos – Authentic Mexican food - it's not, but if you're looking for a glorified Baja Fresh, then this is the place for you. The salsa is, basically, fresh chopped tomatoes and onions, offering little reward for the physical challenge of scooping them up without breaking your chip, and then hoisting it to your mouth without everything falling off (ok, I'm a klutz). The rice and black beans were equally flavorless, the rice being too salty (as someone else here pointed out). The enchiladas en mole were pack... read more

Unlike any other "Mexican" food! – Alegria has the best chimichanga I've ever had. Hands down. It's amazing that something deep fried can be so light and not greasy at all. Pair it with an order of quacamole and an agua fresca -- a delightful, not-too-sweet concoction of fruit, ice and water that falls somewhere between a snow-cone, a slushy, and fruit juice. Save room and split a chocolate chimichanga for dessert!

The Worst Mexican Food Ever – If you like bad service, a waitress with an attitude, and bad, overpriced food (for what it is) Alegria is the place for you! The rice was very salty and inedible, and the mole sauce could have been better. To top it off, our waitress didn't even ask once if everything was ok, but managed to hit the other ten tables in the place. There is NO Alegria in the service. The place is packed and fill of hipsters who think this is the 'new place to be'. It ain't. I was excited to eat here, but I'd rathe... read more

Cosmo's Best Of.... – Alegria on Sunset is one of the best home cooked, health conscious Mexican Restaurant that we've had the pleasure to dine at. Where else are the welcoming chips and salsa home made? Using canola oil, and creating a home made salsa with lots of cilantro, garlic and other spices - you know that this is a place that prepares meals for you much like meals prepared in someone's home, cooked with love and care. The mole, pumpkin seed is my favorite, is consistently surprising in it's subtle yet complex flavor... read more

Great Mexican – It's easy to miss, but worth the effort to find it. I've never been disappointed. This is the place we take all our out-of-towners to eat wonderful, authentic Mexican. Prices are very reasonable. Cute, funky atmosphere. It's BYOB!!! But they only take cash, no plastic.

Holy Mole – I've only been there a couple of times, but the mole sauce is seriuosly the best I've ever had. This is a great restaurant: great food, excellent presenation, good use of citrus, warm casual atmosphere, and very friendly staff. Don't let the strip mall location fool you, Alegria is a top notch Mexican restaurant.

Good Food, Long Wait – Despite the fact that our group had to wait nearly 45-minutes for a table (on a Sat. night), we still had a great time. The food was marvelous (I highly recommend anything with the mole sauce, the layered, fritatta, tortilla-type thing and the chips, salsa and guacamole) and the service was friendly and helpful. Be sure to bring cash though, as they do not take credit cards.
