The food is so freaking good here – Get the Tacos Dorados with Chicken, and you will thank me. Everything at this place is so delicious, including the staff, which is super friendly. I have to stop myself from going to this place once a week.
Take Cash! – I highly recommend this place. It's cheap, home-cooked, and tastes amazing. The only thing is they only take cash, so stop at an ATM on your way over.
for Fresh-Mex fans – If you can ignore the utterly annoying hipster patronage, this is a great spot for light eaters. The recipes are actually derivative of the Mexican food typical to Arizona, brought to light by the restaurants founder. The food is light, fresh, and flavorful, a nice alternative for anyone not wanting the typically heavy, grease-saturated Mexican food, which is also great of course. Fresh juice is made on-site, and there are always a plenty of daily specials. Also, the service is really prompt and friendly... read more
Very enjoyable – Food was great. Service was great. I would go back anytime, and would like so I could try out everything on their menue. We had the cheese enchaladas and they were wonderful!
User review by placecard – I'm a regular, not because I like strip malls with little to no parking, but rather - because of the amazingly conscientious service and the awesome food. Best things on the menu - the Budin (something I can't remember right now that looks like Montezuma) and the Crabcakes (under a moniker), though I don't like the cactus salad and always pass on the rice and get regular salad instead. They are so cool with special orders and also the guacamole is AMAZING (half orders available upon request). The f... read more
Fabulous! – If you are looking for beans and rice, head to Taco Bell. If you want Mexican food like you have never tasted before in LA, come here. We have been there four times and it has been absolutely delicious each time. We have taken others who are also very impressed with the quality of food and service. Great specials. Great food. Location sucks a little, decor is a little eclectic... but if I want a white table cloth restaurant with usually mediocre food, I have a very long list to chose from. I love being able to br... read more
Authentic gem in a mini-mall! – C'mon, you don't get better than this. These two ladies have produced the best Mexican cuisine in Los Angeles ... in a mini-mall, no less! Yeah, it's the tiniest restaurant you've ever seen, and you'll probably wait for a table, but you have got to taste those dobladitos. Everything is fresh, from the chips and guac to the tortillas. The salsa is wonderful, particularly with the mango added in. Because there's such limited space in the restaurant, we call our order in and take the food home. B... read more
Mexican food that doesn't hurt the tummy! – Don't get me wrong, I love tradtional salty and rich Mexican food ... but sometimes my fragile belly can't handle it. This place is great if you want healthy Mex. The ingredients were super fresh and I easily scarfed down a well marinated chicken burrito. The pico de Gallo was good when mixed with the hotsauce, but I kind of wished they would bring out bigger bowls of the chips. If you bring some Bohemias, this place can be a nice and affordable eatery.
Great place, but oh so CROWDED – This is definitely a hipster joint. If you don't know the rules, you may not even get seated. You should rent Swingers before coming here. Actually, there aren't enough tables for Alegria (or as the locals call it: "Leg") to take on any new clientele, so if you're thinking about coming, make sure to swing by 'off-peak.' Also, they don't serve alcohol, so it's BYOB. As for the food, the mole is great.
Alegria On Sunset has a 4.7 star rating with 45 reviews.
Alegria On Sunset is open now. It will close at 10:00 p.m.
