A good experience overall which offered a comforting atmosphere for me and the family. The cinema room is a nice touch however it could be upgraded with a newer projector. Finally, a more appropriate checkout time would be ideal as it’s not always accommodating for some of those who wake up late and need a suitable amount of time to prepare to leave.
If we could give nil stars we would. Despite having to go into hospital unexpectedly and being unable to go on holiday to Alders, the owners Victoria and Jake made no concession to this. They said they would try and relet but the dates were blocked out regardless for the week despite me being in hospital. It’s a shame that they let the industry down and have little integrity. My elderly parents just spent 4 nights in the Garden Flat @Alder Cottage. They came down to visit but my Mum is in a wheelchair and my house isn't accessible. The Garden Flat was amazing for the price The only thing missing is an accessible bath/shower. Other than that they had everything they needed for their stay. They will be back.
An amazing find of a house, perfect for larger groups of families. We stayed over Christmas and new year as a group of 8 adults and 7 children (ages 3-13). There are plenty of rooms, all of good size with so many different options for beds, futons, bunks etc. There are lots of toilets and showers so we never felt like we were waiting to use bathrooms.
