The worst experience of my life! I was locked in this place for three days and I was sent here by mistake and I couldn’t get out and nobody would listen to me and everyone talk to me like I was crazy.

Hands down the worst experience of my life. I was misled by ER staff as to what this place actually was. I was told it was very calm, newly renovated, with individual therapy, and for people going through depression or anxiety. And that I wouldn't be with people going through full blown psychosis and other intensive mental health issues. Within 1 minute of arriving after voluntarily agreeing to go, I realized I had made an awful mistake. I was immediately told I had to be strip searched. Absolutely awful. Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove staff treat patients with obvious favoritism, going out of their way to meet the needs and even the whims of patients who act entitled — ultimately especially those with higher socioeconomic standing and more generous insurance plans and comfortable-into-affluent lifestyles, whether younger (e.g. college students from wealthy zip codes / households) or upper/middle-class retirees &/or dependent spouses. I recommend this place. I spent a few years there as a teen. I was severely depressed and had massive anger issues. Yes the stay was rough. And had its moments. But overall it did help me. And im glad it was available for me. Thank you shady grove!
