You're only as good as the people you hire – The 5 spot has been a favorite of mine until a couple months ago. On a very busy weekend morning, I attempted to go with another friend. While waiting in a crowded lobby with no one there to direct to a sign-in sheet, an employee finally made her way to the waiting crowd. She gladly helped the family couples and answered there questions regarding wait time, but when we asked the same question we were met with a haughty "I don't know" and then she walked away. Never have I been tre... read more

Quirky, cool atmosphere in Queen Anne – Fun, quirky restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere and changable, regional menu with artwork to correspond. The fare was "Heartland" oriented (Midwestern) and there were some authentic items and ones that had a Northwestern flair infused. Good place for kids as the noise level is moderate. Good service as well.

Great Room, So-so Food – I thought that we hit a good one when we saw the line outside. The room is just what a breakfast place should look like, very fun, bright, upbeat. The service was great, good coffee, great freshly squeezed grapefruit juice. The food, however, fell short. Two of us ordered from the Havana menu, one off the standard and one, a special of the day. Only one of us was wowed by their dish. Everyone else thought their food was bland. A bit disappointing, but would consider one more try...I want to like this... read more

Tried and True. – This restaurant has been around for quite a few years and has stood the test of time. My wife and I have eaten at the 5 Spot on numerous occaisions and have never been dissapointed. We like the periodic regional offerings as well as many of the standard items. If you want comfort food or a good breakfast, then this is the place.

Arrogant Service – I entered, I waited to be seated, empty tables visible, ignored by all service people (no acknowledgement of presence), after five minutes and a query on being seated was told "You have to wait". Left, since I don't have to wait to spend my money.

breakfast - ordinary, don't write home – I ate breakfast here because of the rating that it got on this website. The ambience and atmosphere is fantastic!! Plenty of room, high ceilings, and the service is fantastic as well. Unforunately, the food is at best ordinary. Nothing on the menu really pops out at you. I wouldn't describe their offerings as gourmet by any means - about what you'd expect from any breakfast spot in the world, but nothing unique. I got a ham and chedder scramble and from 1-10, i'd give it like a 6. It ... read more

This deserves a 9.1? – After seeing the high rating for the 5 Spot and seeing lines to get in and eat on the weekends, I thought there might be a good reason to go here. I ordered a ham and cheese scramble and compared to other places, the portions were small, the eggs were runny and not fully cooked, the hash browns were soggy and undercooked on the inside, the toast was supposed to be sourdough and tasted like cheap wonderbread and it wasn't buttered. The service was incredibly slow and it was not a busy day for the place.... read more

A Queen Anne Institution – The Five Spot is one of those rare places that will always have business. Through food trends and bad economies, you will always be able to rely on the Five Spot. One of the best food deals in town is the 10pm to midnight $5 menu. Get the just like your mom used to make mac and cheese. 3 kinds of cheese melted and mixed with plump macaroni. Their regional menus are surprisingly good and authentic. Portions are always substantial. Water is cold and filtered and served in Mason Jars, a Five Spot trad... read more
