I believed that the ladies at First Franklin in Ruston Louisiana were genuinely kind until today. During a "business" call with one lady, she decided to tell me about another woman answering my husband's phone. That was unnecessary. After confronting them to let them know how unprofessional that was and how that had nothing to do with my loan, whichever lady it was that had told me that over the phone and it was none of their business and very hurtful for a loan company to notify me of my husband not being faithful. After I ... read more

We received an unsolicited check in the mail. I kept it in case things got tight. It did and I deposited it. Unfortunately I was in and out of the hospital (I am disabled) and we fell behind on payments. Never once did I tell Darren that we didn't owe. He didn't give us a chance to work on a payment plan. He did not answer my emails. He wouldn't talk to me; just said he needed to talk to my husband. I explained that my husband worked out of state and if he wanted to fix this he would have to talk to me. He filed with the cou... read more

We strive to protect our customer's privacy and normally do not discuss account information without our customer's permission. Mr. ********, who is our customer, has never spoken to any of the employees in this office in spite of several phone messages requesting that he return our calls. Without a response from the customer or permission to speak to his wife, we had no recourse - once the account became delinquent - to proceed with filing legal action. A letter was mailed to the home address giving the customer 10 days to c... read more

I had at least 8 loans with 1st Franklin. This last loan, my income dropped. My lights cut off, no money to pay for gas for my car and smokes leaks. I received $194 in SNAP and was conservative by condition my body to eat once a day, and behind on mortgage. I was barely surviving. I received my masters last July. Living in a small town is tough when jobs are scarce. Also could not pay for phone service. I spent time sending resumes and applying for jobs at the library. I started working for Walmart Dec. 5,. 2019. Dec 6 I rec... read more

I had a loan with the office in Cullman AL. My disabled husband was a co signer. I got behind on my payments when my husband had medical issues and they filed legal papers and started garnishment on me. When my husband passed away suddenly in Sept of this year, (2019), I called the office to see about the life insurance policy I knew they had on us and was told that yes they had a policy on us but that once it had gone through legal they had cancelled the policy. That makes no sense to me. What if we both had died? I also ha... read more

Business response:

We are very sorry about the loss of Ms. ****'s husband. We also understand the logic of Ms. ****'s argument relative to her confusion regarding the life insurance that she and her husband purchased regarding this loan. It is our hope that this response will better explain how credit life insurance works in the event of a default. What is more, it is also important to note the timeline of events in this case. Mr. and Mrs. **** closed this loan with us in July of 2018. Our records show that Mr. and Mrs. **** never made a paym... read more

There is no corporate number to call when having an issue. Online, their website is not secured, so you can't log in and make a payment. Going into that store or having to deal with over emotional employees who either conveniently forget things or make you question their integrity , plus the obvious problems within the store makes the FINAL time I ever take a loan here. UNDER no circumstances would I recommend a quick loan with this company. Also, they have had to go back 2x and correct my credit report for incorrect informa... read more

I found myself in a financial bind and recently needed to take out a loan. I was able to apply for the loan over the phone and heard back about my approval status within hours. This process was easy. I then had to go into the office to bring in documentation as well as finalize loan documents requiring my signatures. This is where I began to feel uneasy. Amber, the manager, assisted me in reviewing paperwork and finalizing documents. I am the type to read everything I sign my name to. I instantly noticed unnecessary fees in ... read more

8/8/17 Please accept my apology for the delay in this response; we did not receive your review from the Better Business Bureau until Saturday, August 5th. I have spoken to the branch manager, and she sent in the request to cancel your United Motor Club (UMC) on July 24th; she has received verification that it has been cancelled. Your refund check will be mailed directly to you from UMC. In regards to the 'unsolicited insurance,' the Personal Property insurance is required to insure the property you used as collateral to secu... read more

this is a preditory leaner who send unsolicited checks in the mail and if deposited, lockes you into a unwanted high interest rate loan with only arbitration as a way out. I was out of the country and I normally receive my pay checks via the mail, from assorted clients, my son who is 17 took the checks and deposited them into the account in my absence. I tried to talk to 1st Franklin about this and they do not care, just want the 33% interest. They made an agreement with a 17 year old via live check in the mail and meet 5 of... read more

Business response:

The facts as described are not accurate. Ignoring the fact that 1st Franklin is not a predatory lender and has been in business since 1941, this individual can simply return the money if the check was cashed in error, and this matter will be resolved. However, this individual has not chosen to do that, but instead has filed this alleged complaint and has failed to cooperate with us regarding this matter.

First Franklin PO BOX 1302 Monroe GA 30655. Janet B******* The Branch manager was who I dealt with. First Franklin had me served with papers for under $400 after buying my loan from Insta-loan whom I had a wonderful relationship with. I received horrible customer service the entire 6 months and was inconvenienced by being forced into one option of pay. I was only able to give my routing and checking number since they did not accept credit/debit over the phone. They ran my account without my authorization. I was at their merc... read more
