This is a scam. For a company based in Los Angles, I thought it would be safe to assume theyd have a decent amount of pickup locations. Wrong. There were literally only 3 in my radius, all over an hour walk to get there, and most of the time there was only one car available.

A great service to have until you need them to do anything other than taking your money. I have been using Zip Car for years since moving to *******. The cars weren't always the cleanest, but they were most accessible and really helped in a time when I just needed an hourly rental and not to rent a car by the day. I got until one fender ****** and can't get them to work on the case at all. This case has been open for over 6 months. I've called multiple times and get the "run around". I recommend Zipcar...if you have nothing but money to burn! I needed a car right away to attend a function only about 20 miles from the Zipcar pickup location. So, I joined and everything went smoothly, even though I there's a $25.00 application fee. I booked the car for only one day. I drove the only 20 miles there and back. I ran only 2 errands...the first to a local grocery store (less than 3 miles) and the second errand to a local gas station (also less than 3 miles). Zipcar is terrible....They keep accepting reservations, but the day before your reservation, they throw you to another location very far away. When u call, frst you have to wait avg 25 minutes and their off ************* in ****** can never help. Big waste of time, cancelling membership.

I rented a zipcar for last weekend to go to an out of state wedding with my family. The car reaked horribly of marajuana, was filthy, and the side mirror was broken. I have two young children who were subjected to this odor- that did not diminish- all weekend. The smell was intense and disgusting. In addition, all of our clothes smelled of pot and had to be cleaned and/or dry cleaned. My husband and I have been Zipcar members for over 10 years. We live in Manhattan and Zipcar was a great solution to our occasional car needs. We put up with various inconveniences, such as dirty cars, empty gas tanks, dead batteries after we arrived at out destination, and the dreaded blown fuse for the cigarette lighter so we couldn't plug in our phone or navigation device prior to a trip. Terrible customer service they dont do anything for u when I told them I got an email saying I was approved and then the next day I got an email saying Im not eligible and cant book cars after saying I was approved the day b4 and then they closed my account and when I asked customer service y my account is closed they told me they dont have a reason why my account closed and I had to pay for the membership and fees just to try to get approved they took my money and wont give it back they are complete scams DONT RENT FROM THE... read more

Stay away from this business . I can list all kinds of reasons why , but the worse problem I have with Zipcar is I cancelled my membership and they keep billing my bank every month . Ive cancelled with a live person and on their website. Im trying to contact via phone but less than a two minute wait has now turned into close to two hours . If you rent a car with these crooks you just may find additional charges showing up on your statement.
