Stay away from this business . I can list all kinds of reasons why , but the worse problem I have with Zipcar is I cancelled my membership and they keep billing my bank every month . Ive cancelled with a live person and on their website. Im trying to contact via phone but less than a two minute wait has now turned into close to two hours . If you rent a car with these crooks you just may find additional charges showing up on your statement.
I have wasted time and money for over a month, getting NO SERVICE AT ALL, they give me the run around, and I have paid, but haven't even gotten a car once. This isn't what I'd like to do, but if it helps the situation then so be it. Zipcar is a bad company, there's something super wrong going on with them and they are failing every single time I contact them. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME and MONEY like I DID....
ZipCar has fallen in the last several years, from a solid company to one of the worst. No service, un drivable cars and exorbitant. cost increases...a clear sign of a cash grab by a company on the way out. I hate to say it, as I was an early adopter, but it's time to show them the door.
Zipcar recently charged my free membership (NYCID) to paid membership without my consent. I used their service once in 2018. My credit card info is outdated because I hadn't used the service in a few years and they tried to charge me. In order to cancel the membership, the subscription must be paid in full. Again, it is a free membership and I was never notified that they changed the membership to paid. Now Zipcar is threating to send my account to collection agency. TOTAL CROOKS! Late last year Zipcar sent ONE email to customers like me who were on the no monthly fee plan informing us that "were moving your account to our $70 standard annual plan and retiring your previous membership plan.". No option to immediately cancel in the email, so I replied and asked how to cancel the membership as I had not used a car in at least 7 years. Worst customer service Ive ever experienced. I got probably a tenth of a mile before the car would not accelerate when I was in the middle of a main intersection in ****** on train tracks. I called and was told to have cops come help me, which 911 said its not their job and it was Zipcar responsibility. I was disconnected three separate times when I called, actively on train tracks in a busy intersection. I had a Good Samaritan push me out of the intersection and off of the train tracks. Terrible company!!! Zipcar recently changed my free membership to paid membership without my consent. I haven't used Zipcar for a few years and my credit card info is outdated there (as expected). Zipcar could just have simply changed my membership to cancelled status, when Zipcar shut down the free membership program. Instead, Zipcar requested me to pay for membership I never agreed on in the first place, and threat to send my account to collection agency.
Zipcar is the worst. I registered the membership on Feb 4th, 2020 and was charged $70 for one year membership. I cancelled the membership on Feb 20th, 2020. Now after one month, I didn't get the remaining balance back. This morning I called the Zipcar customer service. The person who picked up the phone said he can't refund my money because this is yearly membership. After I argued with him Zipcar claimed we can cancel anytime, he said he can refund me.
