I fractured my c3 and c4 vertebra by falling down a 11 step staircase. This was complicated by the fact that i had c3 thru c7 fusion less than a year ago. It's been two weeks since surgery. I have moderate pain from the muscles , but not from the c3,c4 surgery. I can walk, talk -initial thoughts were :I was very lucky
Doctor treated me for back issues which resulted in a spinal fusion. After initial painful recovery I felt great. Unfortunately I am not having issues with my SI joint that happens sometimes after a spinal fusion. This is still ongoing but not from the doctor but those darn insurance companies that have all these protocols. But I highly recommend Dr. Ugokwe.
Very personable and answers all questions in terms that I understood. Showed/explained where my problem was on the MRI/x-rays and advised me on my options. Tried the non-surgery options first with little/no relief. Glad to say that the surgery results were better than I expected. Numbness in the arms/legs are mostly gone (weather related) and I'm extremely please with the service I received from the doctor and the staff! I'm back doing better than before and out of pain, again except for rainy/cold days. I highly recommend!
I consider Dr. Ugokwe the best neurosurgeon in this area. He is brilliant and kind and I would recommend him to anyone needing back surgery, however, the nurses and aides at St. Elizabeth’s Youngstown should not even be allowed to practice. They have absolutely no empathy for the patients and will make your stay horribly uncomfortable. I would go as for as saying the treatment they give is cruel and unusually unkind. I left AMA in tears because I couldn’t take the mistreatment anymore.
Terrible post op care ! Terrible communication by the PA’s. Dr. Ugokwe is wonderful when you actually get to see him.

My fiancé was in accident that she had to get major surgery on her back she fractured her T-10 on her spine and her T-12 had burst in pieces, I never felt so helpless in my life sad and afraid for her seeing her in so much pain all I could do was just pray that God would put a good Dr to operate on her when Dr Ugokwe came to introduce himself his spirit was very awesome very professional he pulled out of his bag a display of a spine Showing us exactly what was happening to Shea spine and what needed to be done.
