About this business

This low-key Rick Bayless eatery is inspired by Mexican street taco stands. Bayless serves up creative tortas, sandwiches, and a number of caldos (soups), sure to warm anyone up on a cold winter day. The pozole is a healthier take on the traditional dish. The pozole is made with chicken instead of pork, and though it is usually served on weekends at most Mexican eateries, here it's served here daily. The ever-popular tortas are placed on a crunchy French bread that, while not the typical bread used in this traditional sandwi... read more

Huge fan of Rick Bayless' and whenever I get to Chicago I have to hit up one of his spots (Topolobampo one of my all time faves) but tonight I just wanted simple and uncomplicated. I ordered carryout from Xoco getting the Ahogada Torta with carnitas, black beans, pickled onion & a tomato-Arbol chile broth for dunking (fantastic), a small salad with cilantro lime dressing (good), and chips and salsa (disappointed upon returning to my hotel to find no salsa in my nicely packaged carryout..I had to use the tomato-Arbol broth to... read more

Went to XOCO for a quick dinner before a show (on a recommendation)and had a wonderful experience! The host was incredibly nice, as were all of the servers we encountered. We ordered and were seated immediately. Food was outstanding! I had the Pepitos Torte, my daughter had the Carnitas Tacos and we shared a churro plate with a chocolate shot. I am so glad we went here and will be back again!
