Bad experience! – I went there last saturday with my boyfriend and didn't like anything.Food was bad service was bad everything was bad.
Don't order anything larger than the – i have eaten here 4 times in the last 6 weeks and needless to say i think it is excellent. however on my 4th visit (last night) i of course ordered their signature steak as always, the porterhouse. but this time i ordered the "Steak for 4", in the past i never ordered larger than the "Steak for 2". the balance of Filet Mignon & NY Strip on the Steak for 4 was noticeably absent...hardly any Filet Mignon. I have eaten in over 200 restaurant in NYC and have never experienced such threatening service – My G/F decided to take me out for my Bday. I used to be a broker so I have done my rounds in all of the NYC steakhouses and this used to be one of my favorites...However, as we are seated, our server DANNY whom resembles a goat hearder from the mountains forgets to introduce himself, plops the menus right over our plates and when asked for the wine list gives me a mocking smirk. Could use a lot more of Janes Sauce to spice this steak up – I often eat out, alone by myself and out of all of the "well-known" steak houses in NYC, I would say this is the worst. For starters it is way over-priced, and the steak I received was quite dry, even "janes" special sauce did not help out. I hope the quality of the food and service upgrade soon.
Great!! Catching up to lugers! – I thought the steak was absolutely delicious!! Went with my girlfriend and ordered the steak for three. The service was just OK, not great. At least they take credit card...something you can't say about lugers. i will still rank Peter Lugers just ahead of wolfgang.
its not lugers - cook didn't wash hands after using bathroom – Before i describe the food, I must say my whole experience at Wolfgang's is marked by what happened to me in the restroom. While I was finishing up and washing my hands, a cook appeared from one of the bathroom stalls, walked by me and didn't even make an attempt to wash their hands. Bad waiter and poor reservation system – Let me begin with saying Wolfgang's food was great - great steak and side dishes. HOWEVER, I think this restaurant does not understand what "reservation" means. To this restaurant, 7 PM reservation means 8 PM seating and 8 PM reservation means 9 PM seating.. The maitre d' deserves a potch in the tucchus! – Let me start off by saying the food was great. No complaints there. And the waiters were friendly. But I am SHOCKED at how poorly the reservations are handled. Last night, there were easily 5 different parties for 7pm who did not get seated till nearly an hour after the original time, including myself. People even stormed out. Bad scheduling/hosting, good bartenders, Luger's-style service and STEAK – This is a small restaurant. They clearly overbook reservations - even for 7pm. Table for 4 last night took 1 hour to be seated - after checking with the overwhelmed hostess multiple times.
