In 1921 Bruce and Bob Walters opened a bicycle shop which in 1922 became a Harley Davidson dealer. In 1931 Bruce and his wife Gladys Walters moved from Galesburg to Peoria and they purchased Harley Davidson Sales and Service. In 1949 Bruce built a new store that was known as one of the most modern in Illinois at the time. Walked in looking around looking at a $30,000 bike and nobody wanted to talk to us. We’re definitely look someplace else if I was going to buy one today because they didn’t seem to want to be bothered by us. Four people walk by us nobody greeted us, the only one that greeted us was the clothing sales person. I’m sure this type of treatment and business makes Harley Davidson proud!
