Excellent food and service – This is an excellent addition to the Eastside restaurant scene. Superb food, witty, attentive service, full bar, decent wine list. What's not to like? Well, the decor is the getting-to-be-typical Industrial Chic, meaning all the glass, cement and steel generates a punishing noise level. Add in an open kitchen, and it can be hard to converse. Hopefully Vindalho will install some noise dampening artifacts, and then you'll have a perfect dining experience.
A memorable experience – I was totally impressed with the entire experience at Vindalho. The smells were enticing. The wine selection was outstanding. The meal was well crafted from start to finish. My date, who was Persian, concurred with all that I have said here.
Overpriced and Underspiced – This restaurant is a complete joke. The food is uninspiring - incorrectly spiced and improperly prepared. I ordered the monkfish, it arrived stone cold and raw so they had to recook it. On its second appearance it was cooked alright, but unfortunately it seemed the chef had neglected to add any spices to the tomato sauce that came with it. The naan bread was doughy, undercooked and oversalted - if you can't get something so basic right, you should forget about having an Indian restaurant. My comp... read more
Excellent!!! – I went to Vindalho last night with 2 friends and we had an amazing experience. The decor and ambience is lovely, warm, and comfortable. The staff and servers were well versed in the food and wine. The food was amazing- every single dish was perfect, and well presented from the appetizers to desert. We had one of all the sides and that made a wonderful meal for two in itself. Im trying to think of something they should work on, but can't. We will be back soon- and often!!
David has another winner... – Lauro is one of our favorite restaurants and Dave Machado has yet another winner with Vindalho. The space is beautiful and comfortable. The food is devine - my picky husband who turns his nose up at pretty much anything that isn't steak and fries loved his entree (ginger prawns) and his salad (I want the recipe for that orange vinagrette!) The zucchini pickles, chutney and flatbreads are outstanding. My lamb was cooked a perfect medium and the rice was perfectly spiced. Even the cocktails were o... read more
Elegant Indian and South Asian cuisine served in a vibrant, modern setting on SE Clinton. – In Short The spacious floor plan is divided into a dining room, exhibition kitchen and convivial bar, overseen by an upstairs dining loft. The towering windows and industrial concrete of the main room are warmed by mango colored walls and an eclectic nesting of bamboo tables, dark wood chairs and inviting banquettes. Chef David Machado, of Lauro fame, creates upscale Indian fare, including house-made pappadams with tamarind-date chutn... read more
