Elegant, high quality, innovative dining. – This is another of my favorite restaurants, especially when I am wanting to choose healthy, tasty Indian-influenced food. The selection is not huge for vegetarians but there are enough vegetables on their menu to be happy. And the vegetarian dishes, vegetable side dishes and appetizers are unusual and exquisitely prepared. The fish specials are amazing and they have an excellent cocktail and wine selection. The portions are generous, yet so healthy that you do not have to leave too... read more

great indian fusion and service – What a find! We LOVE indian food but are always having a hard time finding a decent place, besides Bombay Cricket Club. This one was advertised in a great magazine that keeps coming to our house, MIX, don't know why it is but I'm glad it does. Anyway, it was listed as a great place because of it's chef. It was right on the mark, and it's located in the most tucked away cute spot in SE. It has great ambience, good for family or for just the two of you, like us. The food was fantastic. The pri... read more

Excellent American - Indian Fusion – Expect to eat American style (and American portion sizes) and not that of an authentic Indian restaurant. Understanding as such, the meal is quite tasty. Great ambience and neighborhood.

Interesting NW interpretation of South Asian cuisine. A real find! – After moving into near-in SE, my wife and I set about looking for decent Indian food. I travel to India on business regularly and enjoy the flavors of South Asian food. Not really sure about how NW cuisine styles could interpret Indian food, we gave this place a try. Wow! What a find. And it's within bike distance of the house. The wait staff is wonderful/trendy. The food well prepared. The bar well stocked. The have just two questions: 1) why do restaurant... read more

Quality ingredients, but where's the flavor? – Let me start this off by saying that the ingredients were of high quality, the service was polite, and the presentation was tasteful. That being said, if you had fed me any of the items we ordered for dinner with a blindfold on, I would have absolutely no idea I was supposed to be eating Indian food. The fried lentil cakes with coconut chutney we had as an appetizer a very faint cilantro taste and little else. Our entrees were similarly disappointing, with my Chicken Tikka havin... read more

Great Food, Staff Friendly, Overall Great – I really liked this place overall and had a great time there. The staff was really friendly and the food was good. I think I still like Bombay Cricket better -- but they are very different, so the comparison is a little unfair. I think the best part of the evening was the waiter who was fun, funny and entertaining! I don't expect the staff to entertain me...I'm there to have a good time with friends not worry about the staff, but truly, he was terrific. We had a grand time and woul... read more

Worst service – Vindalho's food is fairly good, but truly overpriced. The service is very rude and the owner is very impersonal and unpleasant. This is the first and last time I would dine there. There are so many wonderful restaurants in Portland that treat you well and appreciate your business.

Watch out Bombay Cricket Club! We have a runner up! – Im vegetarian so I cant speak for the meat dishes, but everything I ordered I loved! I really, really, recomend getting a chutney sampler, the peach chutney knocked our socks off! The place was really relaxing and nice inside, the staff friendly and attentive.

Pacific Northwest ingredients with an Indian influence – This place is relatively new, but is already a favorite. I don't rate restaurants very high (I think people need to fully utilize the scale on this website), so my "Recommend" is a really good score based on my other gradings. The staff was friendly. The restaurant was clean. The food was great and uses PNW ingredients with an Indian influence. We have been twice and one of us had the special of the day each time, and menu items for the others. The selections on both t... read more
