In the year 1960, Corning developed a glass which was strong, flexible, difficult to scratch, and is very hard. Known as “Gorilla Glass” today, it is now used in millions of phones.

Do you know why glass can be recycled easily? It is because it does not deteriorate with use or age. In fact, glass is 100% recyclable and can be recycled endlessly without loss in quality or purity.

Did you know that if you bury a glass jar, bottle, container, or simply a piece of glass, it will take 1,000,000 years to completely decompose?

So how does glass blowing work? After the glass making ingredients are mixed together and heated until they liquefy, a blowpipe is inserted into the hot liquid glass, where the glass gathers on the end. The glass maker then blows into the tube and creates a glass bubble, which can be shaped into a vase, sculpture, or bowl.

Lingering over a martini or cosmopolitan is a treat made more special when sipped from top shelf glassware. A good cocktail glass is notable for its solid stem, sturdy enough to hold so the hand does not cup the glass body and warm the drink.

Because white wines are served chilled, they are best served in a wine glass with a narrower shape. The narrow body prevents a large volume of room-temperature air from entering the glass, allowing the wine to retain its temperature longer.

Give a gift that lasts a lifetime-- or longer. Glass takes approximately 1,000,000 years to decompose! Glass doesn't decompose naturally in the atmosphere unless it is highly polluted. It can be etched using hydro-fluoric acid. This method is how etched glass is made.
