It's a bit surreal stepping from the thriving surroundings of a very busy downtown into the contemplative quiet of the Art Gallery. Overall, it was a superb experience.
Thanks for giving me the chance to see some of my favourite artist's work (Claude Monet). Spent hours mesmerized by the paintings, and was close to tears at one point. Enjoyed viewing Emily Carr's beautiful oil paintings also. Vancouver Art Gallery is such a beautiful classic building, and wondering why change to a different location ?
I was very disappointed in the Monet display. I also have been fortunate to see his work in Giverney, London and Paris. These in Vancouver were not colourful, not finished very evidently and not impressive. The Courthouse is a lovely building; a bigger place not needed until better exhibits are available to us.
I loved the Emily Carr paintings. I might buy a print sometime. I love Monet's paintings as well. The paintings and personal details about Monet info were WONDERFUL. I didn't love the flow of the layout of the rooms. It was a bit choppy and back and forth. I suppose I had also expected something bigger. I was a little disappointed. Not sure if the VAG's worth the $24 to get in. I probably won't go again.
Monet exhibit was great. Was in Paris but missed the museum but did get to his house. Fanstic to complete the Monet journey
It was a nice gallery and the staff were friendly
Très decu de ce musée . Seulement 3 expositions , les autres ètaient en rénovations . J'ai fais le tour en 30 min Pour le prix de 24 dollars ca fait vraiment cher !
Had an awesome time albeit the massive crowd, this past Tuesday evening for Monet. Being disabled & on an appalling fixed income having Tuesday evening free is essential. I do find it audacious of you to ask for $10.00 donation. The plethora of people in your lineups STILL should tell you not everyone in Vancouver is a Millionaire. The service shown me was excellent. I was personally escorted via elevator to the Cafe. The service there is good too.
