Big positive shoutout to the VA hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. I sent an axe through my knee down to the bone at just about sundown in the remote wilderness this last weekend. Leaving that night was not an option so we patched it up as best we could and waited for morning. I arrived at the VA emergency room about noon the next day and was immediately seen by a triage nurse. No waiting, no bull shit they had me in and out in 2 hours flat; which included 8 stitches. F.I.L. (ww2 and Korea) was cared for by the outstanding staff at this facility. He and his family were always treated with the utmost courtesy and respect.His medical treatment was always great. I have been to V.A. facilities in other states, they suck! The SLC ffacility is outstanding, even compared to level 1 trauma centers. Keep it up, and Thanks!!!
So tell me, what does giving blood and urine sample and seeing social worker have anything to do with suicidal thoughts? Not a damned thing! My best friend went there last week seeking help for these thoughts and this is all she's getting!? What kind of VA are you!? I have lost faith in the ONLY system that Veterans have! From not mailing medications out on time, to take compensation with no documented proof!
I have been to many VA hospitals and I've found the Salt Lake City VA yo be top notch. I understand they handle thousands of Vets from all around the region so wait times are normal and depending upon if you have something that can wait their seeing patients that can't. Yes I like the Salt Lake Regional Hospital and of course the Hospital looks run down its been around longer than anyone of us .
Just shocked at SLC VA system. Moved from another in South East that was phenomenal. Couldn't get a call back to transfer systems so finally went to the hospital. The Eligibility office is next door to the E.R. There were several people waiting over 2 hours just to be seen. One elderly man eventually just left! Now they tell me I can't get a regular appointment for over a month! Anyone that gives this VA system more than one star has never been to a successful VA system. I am so thankful for the doctors my husband sees at the VA! I'm also thankful that he was and has been able to get it when he needs to.
