I am a frequent patient (weekly)at this hospital for labs, pharmacy, doctors, and imaging. Today was ER as advised by a 24 hr nurse hotline call. Security was different than at main entrance. Guard was not polite and only grunted at me. The registration has a chair so far from the window that one is shouting out their personal information and medical issues. No privacy here! In the ER I'm told to sit in a row of chairs next to a tech removing yards of a very bloody bandage.The next seat is watching a blood draw. Add nausea t... read more

i know how hospitals are and you can’t get in fast, that isn’t even the problem. We were here for four hours and they sent my dad back twice to get scans without telling him anything else. He was here for stitches on his forehead. They didn’t even bother to look at his forehead and just took random tests. Then, sent him back to put on a gown and waited in a room for even longer with no one telling him anything. The communication is HORRIBLE. UPMC Harrisburg demonstrated a profound lack of medical oversight and reckless disregard for patient saftey. I was here on an involuntary mental health stay. I was treated absolutely terribly, like an animal not a human. I was treated like I was an annoyance to the staff, not a patient. They provided with me with nothing to do in the intake prison cell, then got upset when I started pacing and walking around due to the serve boredom. From the moment I walked into Harrisburg Hospital I was disappointed. There were two women at the front desk who were unbelievably rude to me. From making me feel stupid for not knowing where to go, to acting like asking to get my ticket validated was absolutely the worst task. I am a healthcare professional and this is not a good look for a hospital system.
