Union Oyster House near Faneuil Hall was established in 1826 and is the oldest continually operating restaurant in the United States. Usually crowded, the restaurant is frequented by locals and tourists. The late President John F. Kennedy's favorite booth is identified by a plaque, and Daniel Webster was a fan of the oysters. While the menu includes chicken, steak and pork, seafood is its forte. The raw bar serves a variety of shellfish. Try the lobster, which is served boiled or broiled. Waitress was not very good food was awful best part was the oyster shucker downstairs we should have stayed there and just had apps. Lobster Newburgh was tough and clams were BAD as in expired.
So much history and life in this place! Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Will definitely stop in again next time I'm in Boston.
I visit almost every Thursday for the last year or so... always at the bar. The service is Wonderful and the drinks are Delicious. There's a bartender name Jimmy and he's the Best.
Waited almost 3 hours for a table. Food was sadly bland and not what I would of expected from a historical landmark that receives rave reviews. Service was abysmal and had no real interest in serving us. Love the decor, thats the only thing that earned a star.
The fresh seafood was just incredible! Great ambiance and service. You can tell Boston locals are proud of this place, and it's easy to see why. I will certainly recommend this American landmark! Cheers!
Great place for a cold beer or cocktail but that was the only thing that was memorable. The food was just average and we felt rushed to order. The waitress said the dinners were running about 20 minutes from the time we put the order in and 10 minutes later it was in front of us. Wouldn't go back but I would tell people to go and keep in mind there are plenty of "non touristy" places to eat that are much better.
The oysters were not nearly as good as the ones next door at the Bell in Hand. The shucker was very rude and condescending. The oysters were served with no sauce and we had to ask for horseradish, utensils and napkins.
Recommended to us and we will recommend highly to everyone we know going to Boston!! Everything we tried was fabulous.
Excellent food & friendly staff!!! Definitely a must stop when your in Bahsten (Boston)!!
