Union Oyster House near Faneuil Hall was established in 1826 and is the oldest continually operating restaurant in the United States. Usually crowded, the restaurant is frequented by locals and tourists. The late President John F. Kennedy's favorite booth is identified by a plaque, and Daniel Webster was a fan of the oysters. While the menu includes chicken, steak and pork, seafood is its forte. The raw bar serves a variety of shellfish. Try the lobster, which is served boiled or broiled. The restaurant has a full service ba... read more

This place is the real deal, it has all the ambience and the feel of a Boston tradition. The food is excellent and the staff is welcoming and accommodating. We waited thirty minutes after our reservation time, but it only gave us more time to soak in the feel of a genuine oyster bar. No plaster fish on the wall, no cute napkins with a lobster printed on them, just a sense that you are experiencing one of the oldest restaurants in the nation. The food was great, the drinks were no nonsense and the other diners all seemed to b... read more
It was ok, I'm not really sure why they feel the need to stay with 1920 standards of food prep, no its not ok to have sand in the chowder or steamed clams no matter how much notstalgia might call. The service was less than adequate our server forgot my oysters, yep forgot my oyster order at and oyster house, but when they came they we're fantastic and the Lobster Scapi was the stuff of dreams so on the hole worth a stop on the tourist train.
I booked a table on OpenTable and it was easy and smooth. The wait staff was really friendly and welcoming, if a bit stretched thin. Turns out two waitresses were out sick that evening. Given that, all the more impressive that our waitress was as attentive and friendly. The place is as spectacularly historic as you’d imagine. Their celebrity diner list is most impressive: from Lisa Minnelli to Mohd Ali to Bill Clinton to Barrack Obama and it goes on and on. The food is good, but unless you’re a tourist, you can find equal or... read more
This place was great. The clam chowder was the best that I have ever eaten. I also had the scallop plate and they were fantastic. You need to eat at this place for sure. I'll give it a 4.8 out of 5 only because we had to wait so long to be seated.
Historical and beautiful! Have to have the clam chowder ! Visit JFK booth upstairs. We had an excellent waiter and he made it a very enjoyable experience.
Loved the nostalgia, service was a little to be desired, and we didn't get what we ordered off the menu. Ordered a seafood platter & didn't get the clams or the onion rings, so they filled the plate with fries (that weren't on menu) when we asked about it our waiter disappeared & never came back, so we ate & had to ask another waiter for our check - when we asked him about it, he says we'll it usually comes with clams & onion rings ??? Duh! We just paid & left.
The food is excellent. I ate there 2 times this week and the servers, Sandy & Bobbie are wonderful!
The bartender was great company! Overall an awesome place1
We were with a large party. The wait staff were friendly the New England Clam Chowder was very good, good coffee, the food was fair. Nothing to write home about. The dessert is probably an acquired taste. Too many eating choices in Boston to return to this ancient, oldest continuous operating restaurant. Been there done that.
