Thanks to the Turtle Ridge Wildlife Center, Walter-- the poor injured pigeon my friends and I found in the middle of a busy street in Portland-- has a safe place to recover from his injuries. My friend was keeping him in her bathtub until she could find an ideal sanctuary for him. Most wildlife sanctuaries refuse to take pigeons and the Audubon Society suggested euthanization. The kind people at Turtle Ridge happily agreed to take Walter in and to try and fix his broken wing. Even if he's never able to fly again, he'll be gi... read more

just took in an injured owl that was sitting in the middle of Lancaster Dr. Northeast. The sheriff came and blocked the lane for a while while I called my dispatcher (I was working) to see if I can get the owl some help. Was suggested Turtle ridge by a lady on Facebook. I never knew of this place till now. Such a wonderful place to take injured wild animals. Friendly staff and so helpful especially at 1am. I felt I needed to save this owl. I wasn't going to let drivers run over it. Thank you Marion County Sheriff's departmen... read more

I saw a girl go in to the bushes w/ a cage and run out and get in the car. And they took off! I called TR and they said bring the animal to them. It was a lil white w/ black polka dots bunny. THANK you Turtle Ridge for helping me with his last breath of life. You all were amazing!!

A BIG thank you to Turtle Ridge Wildlife Refuge for taking the baby squirrel we found on our doorstep. We just could we not maintain the 2-hr feedings round the clock. So grateful to find a safe and loving place to take our little “buddy”. And to have the option to have him released back on our property when he is ready.

Today a small teenage squirrel was pushed out of his nest and he fell on cement from 20 feet in front of me while I was on lunch. I was able to scoop him up and call Turtle Ridge. If it wasn’t for them he would have been left to die or be eaten. Thank you.
