Editorial fromKaty and Bill Heinzman opened Tuk Tuk in 1998, naming their Thai cafe for the three-wheeled motorized taxis popular in Bangkok. Depictions of the vehicle pervade the stylish restaurant, appearing above the orange awning, in colorful…

The Disappointment. – Blah... where do I begin? I am tramatized. To cut to the chase this place isn't what the citysearch made it out to be. I was faced with a tiny hole in the wall with lame decor, bland food, and horrendous service. Needless to say I was disappointed, and I will , thanks for your help citysearch.
Great weekend lunch place – I would recommend sister-restaurant Rambutan for a more romantic dining experience, but Tuk Tuk is a good casual lunch spot, with daily specials (7 days a week!). The food was fresh and good, not greasy. Parking is tight in the area, so grab a meter if you can. Strange fact - we asked for limes with our cokes and they didn't have any - a Thai restaurant without limes?!
2nd time wasn't the charm – Went to this to give it another shot and it failed badly. Just writing to remind that this is no 9.8 rating. The service was extremely poor. Waited FOREVER to just get a glass of water. Food was not a delicious as I remembered on the first visit.
Best on the westside. – We're always impressed with the quality of food at tuktuk. The service can be hurried at times, but that's expected at a busy restaurant.
Cute Modern Place with Alcohol – I live down the street from this place and always take my friends from out of town here. Everyone has been pleased so far. It has decent Thai food if you know what to order (I'd stay away from Pad Thai, but go with any of the beef plates or the combo), but most importantly the atmosphere is very cozy and romantic in a modern way. The decor and furniture is modern. There is a bar and they serve a variety of drinks. I've been to this place a lot and never found it nosy as some indicate here. It... read more
Blend of Traditional and Inventive Thai Cuisine – Tuk Tuk Thai is almost a perfect Thai Restaurant. Its menu is loaded with all of the traditional dishes you'd expect, and it does all of them excellently. Furthermore, unlike many Thai restaurants, Tuk Tuk is willing to play with tradition. A few of their dishes are unique to their menu. I highly recommend the Pear Salad - a variation on the Papaya salad with (what else) a pear. The atmosphere is excellent, and the presentation is great for the price. There's really nothing t... read more
Still ountstanding Thai cuisine. – I've been in New York for the last 18 month. I'm so happy that tuk-tuk is still here for me. I searched throughout Manhattan for a descent Thai restaurant..no luck. Glad to be back in LA.
what a tragedy! – i used to frequent this little hole in the wall in my neighborhood but alas, in the last couple of visits, i was treated very poorly by a couple of the staff. how would you feel if you walked in a restaurant, approach the host and given a look and told "well???".... i was caught off guard and was told to "speak up!!!"....gasp!!! i told the host that he caught me off guard and his response was "well? what do you need?" along with an attitude of 'hurry and get this over with'.....needles to say, it is unfortu... read more
A GOOD MEAL – Whenever I am close to tuk tuk, I make a point of stopping by for some of the best thai food in the city. The quaint atmosphere and the uncommonly friendly floor staff, make lunch a great experience aside from the food, which is the reason to come to tuk tuk in the first place. Soup, salad or a curry, all of the food is just great. One of my favorites is the beef waterfall. I feel like I can eat here everyday, if only I can be in the area. Anyway, tuk tuk is the best bet for a great lunch anywhere on the westsi... read more
