Tower Bar

About this business

The Tower Bar, located in the historic, art deco Sunset Tower Hotel, is reminiscent of 1930s Hollywood glamor. A roaring fire, piano service, walnut-paneled walls, and intimate back lit corner booths create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Whether here for business or pleasure, enjoy the spectacular views of Los Angeles—the city of angels. The kitchen serves Californian fare, focusing on freshness and quality. The beef tartare, marinated in olive oil overnight, is succulent and tender. Other main courses include Grilled... read more

the coolest restaurant – love it. come here often. i really love this place very cool old hollywood atmosphere- wood paneled walls- views of the city twinkling behind, servers in white coats biut not sdtuffy-- relaxed not too expensive not too obnoxious-- jsut perfect. the food is very reliable and very good not amazing but really great, the service is good (not great) probably their weakest trait, but the best part of the restaurant is the atmosphere, the reliable food, and its a total power scene-- every night filled with ... read more

THE REAL DEAL – I was very eager to go to the Tower Bar as I have read so much about the restaurant and the great reviews. The reviews are right. The place is amazing. The ambiance is so beautiful and Chic. The staff is not only georgous but good at what they do. The menu was great and the food was amazing. We had such a wonderful time that we are doing my best friends B/day party there in a month in the private room.

Hollywood's golden age is alive again on the Strip at art deco landmark hotel's clubby dining room. – The Scene Soft hues and walnut-paneled walls, dotted with head shots of silver-screen hopefuls from decades past, exude laid-back elegance; picture windows frame knockout views of the city below. Pianist Page Cavanaugh plays standards for the quiet bar crowd. Couples linger in backlit corners, industry honchos toast their latest deal with the obligatory Dom, and hipsters take in a scene from another time. Maitre d' Dimitri D... read more

I like starving at dinner, don't you? – The first and only order of drinks arrived promptly as did our appetizers, but the entree took over an hour to reach our table after the appetizers and drinks were cleared from the table. We were never asked if we wanted more coctails or wanted a bottle of wine(which we did, this should have been known to all since the wine list was still on our table). first we all delighted in thinking that this restaurant was about having a nice relaxing leisurely paced meal... then a waiter we had ... read more

Mixed bag at the Tower Bar – Dining at the Tower Bar is a mixed bag. The good: the dining room and ambience are really nice - this is a cozy place to have a relaxed meal. The food is pretty good, although the menu is fairly limited. Service starts out with a bang, but then they get busy and it comes to a crawl. They messed up a drink order at the table next to us and it took three requests to get it fixed. The Matre'd will dote on you if your are someone famous, but he'll ignore regular folks. The key question for any restau... read more

Awful Management – I went to the Tower Bar last night with my girlfriend for my birthday. We were both highly impressed with the decor when we walked in. That's the only good thing I can say about this place. After being told that our table would be ready in 20 minutes, we got a drink at the bar and sat down to wait. And wait. And wait. And wait some more. An hour later neither us nor the couple sitting next to us were seated. We were given no explanation. We were not checked up on. We were not apologized to. We walked out. ... read more

Whats old is new again! – Like stepping back in time! The decor and ambeience are fitting with the timeline of the building. Sophisticated and grown-up. On the Sunset Strip? Its about time! Chef Piero Morovich has taken command of the menu, and it's dazzeling and delicious. Pastry Chef, Miho Travi has used this place to launch herself as a new star in the Pastry world. Protege of Michelle Meyers (Boule), she has taken what she learned and . . . Damn! Service, detailed and courtious. Unpretentious, without being too familiar.... read more

Atmosphere Galore – Stylish and elegant, the Tower Bar at the Argyle hotel is a refreshing escape from all the trendy places on the strip. No 20-something's in shabby clothes and no fusion food "posing" on your plate. This is a warm, inviting place to enjoy a cocktail and some piano jazz. The patrons are classy and the service is outstanding. Classic menu items are done with organic ingredients. Try the lobster salad and the duck a l'orange. This landmark hotel has not compromised it's standards and has managed to preserve i... read more

Golden Age Returns – Finally, a civilized place to dine, drink, and converse in Los Angeles. While I'm usually not one for change, especially when it involves a Hollywood landmark, I cant say enough about the elegant transformation of this legendary building. That The Argyle offers a place to dine that has amazing food, and spectacular service in a stunning atmosphere is a gift to all who moved to LA from New York and other civilized parts.
