Tower Bar

About this business

The Tower Bar, located in the historic, art deco Sunset Tower Hotel, is reminiscent of 1930s Hollywood glamor. A roaring fire, piano service, walnut-paneled walls, and intimate back lit corner booths create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Whether here for business or pleasure, enjoy the spectacular views of Los Angeles—the city of angels. The kitchen serves Californian fare, focusing on freshness and quality. The beef tartare, marinated in olive oil overnight, is succulent and tender. Other main courses include Grilled... read more

I was dissatisfied start to finish – After hearing great reviews of the restaurant, I decided to see for myself. The restaurant was completely empty when we arrived for our 7:30pm reservation on a Saturday night. I found that odd. The food and service were only so-so. After a $350+ dinner, we left the hotel for 30 minutes and returned to get our cars. The valet parker asked for $20, even though my ticket was validated by the restaurant. When asked why, they said that the validation is void when you leave the hotel (he insist... read more

The Terrace – I didn't even recognize this hotel when my wife and I went for a couples massage at the Argyle Spa. Really elegant. After an amazing spa experience we had drinks and food on the Terrace. If you were familiar with the Argyle hotel, it was the same space as the Fenix. I promise you won't recognize it now. It's quiet, tasteful, and the view is exquisite. Plus, it's warmer outside than the quiet chilly Tower Bar. We had a very good experience in the spa and the restaurant. A very pleasant and tranquil evening.

WOW! – This bar is truly classy, and has a great staff. The drink specials at the bar are awesome, they are worth trying if you want to find yourself a new drink. The pours are great, and the crowd (so to speak) is upscale. This bar is great, and it accesses an amazing poolside area with an amazing view. I love Sunset Towers. I've had great bday party experiences as well as simple night out with a drink at the bar experiences here. If you feel like dropping some cash for a night that will be plush, comfortable, chill and ple... read more

beautiful classic California – I usually eat inside at the Tower Bar, the fantastic dining room at the Sunset Tower Hotel but when the hostess mentioned their outdoor option--and it was such a beautiful night--I went for it. It's the same menu as the Tower, but they also had a small plates menu with little snacks. The lobster short stack stood out. There's a beautiful view of the city and plenty of heat lamps.

Elegance on The Strip?! – I usually avoid the Sunset Strip for what to me, are obvious reasons: tacky, loud clubs and restaurants full of drunken Paris Hilton Wannabes and the horndogs who chase them. So, I was a little skeptical about finding an oasis of grown-up sophistication in the middle of the Strip. Alas, I was wrong to doubt this place. The Tower Bar is one of the best kept secrets in Los Angeles. Do not expect to "roll up" with your "crew" for drinks and grub. For god's sake, make a reservation. Classy, dark and qui... read more

Great everything! – The Tower Bar lived up to all of it's hype. Enjoyed a signature cocktail in the lounge before being seated in the restaurant. The duet (pianist & basist) and beautiful room really set the mood. Service was very attentive and spot on. The recommended orange-balsamic glazed lamb was fabulous. For great food, great service and the prettiest room in LA this is the place!

Old Hollywood Lives! – After repeated raves raves from a trusted restaurant-enthused friend, I decided to visit the Tower Bar at the Sunset Tower Hotel myself. I had the good fortune to be accommodated with a reservation last night. As my date and I rolled up to the valet at the front of the hotel, we were warmly greeted by the valet, and whisked inside. The restaurant is through the left side of the lobby, past a glowing fireplace and a tidy lounge filled with both traditional booth seating and more casual coffee tables sur... read more

Check your bill before you leave! – The room is nice, the staff are friendly, and it's got a wonderful view, but my main advice to anyone dining or drinking here is to scrutinize your bill before you pay it. A friend and I were having drinks and ordered the cheese plate, which was listed on the menu for $12. When we got the bill, we had been charged $18 for the cheese plate. After the waiter corrected the error, he came back with a bill that had had almost $15 added onto it for no reason (bill should have been about $48, and... read more
