I bought my first wok here 35 years ago. I cured it and it's still going strong. Great tools, too.
Great selection of tools. The owner gave me a good base of wok knowledge and made sure I knew how to season and cure my new wok. Also got a back scratcher and a rice paddle free with purchase. Very happy with my wok.
I would love to visit this place in person, but I'm all the way over in Louisiana. Over the years, I have purchased via the website, 3 woks, a chopping block, and a couple of cleavers, and I am beyond impressed with the quality and customer service. I would never buy my Asian cookware anywhere else.
Tane has been most helpful with providing me information on how to restore an old wok I bought from them many years ago! A bunch of "thumbs up" for The Wok Shop! They are the real deal!
Just got a full bag of wok-goodies (wok, steamer, knives) along with excellent advice on how to season the wok and how to use all the extra tools. If you're looking for a wok - this is the place to go to.
They have the real stuff here. Very friendly and helpful staff. We bought our stuff and had it shipped back home to Texas. They don't just sell you the wok but also show you how to take care of it. Recommend them to all my friends.
I discovered The Wok Shop thanks to cookbook author, Grace Young. I followed her recommendation to visit The Wok Shop to purchase my wok. I lucked out and was helped by the owner, Tane Chan who helped me with my 14" carbon steel, flat bottom wok. This is the only place to buy your wok and tools whether in their charming San Francisco Chinatown store or online. Since I live in northern California, I can't wait to go back and stock up on more wok accessories and blue and white bowls.
The Wok Shop has a 3.3 star rating with 583 reviews.
