History Established in 1945. For three decades, movie nights at the old Strand Theater at 38 N. My boyfriend and I try to see movies here whenever possible. I love supporting a local business. Bonus, they serve my favorite ice cream from The Hop. Their snack selection is awesome.
The Strand is a true gem. It will be one of the anchoring memories of my kids' childhood. We've seen amazing movies, had excellent local sodas, noshed on the best popcorn ever. We're lucky to have this lil haven right here in Waynesville.
I saw Guardians of the Galaxy at the Strand (first time I've been to a movie in years). There were no problems that night. I've been to Open Mike night several times. The staff is always welcoming and friendly. I love the '60s coffee house feel to the place and the espresso drinks are really good. I'll definitely be going back.
A real home town experience with excellent popcorn!
We loved getting to watch a movie in a theatre without driving to Asheville. For the convenience, I would recommend it. Nice little theatre.

Do NOT, under any circumstances waste your money at The Strand at 38 Main. They cut off the movie early. It started an hour late. We were harassed and the manager did nothing to help. Not going back. I even contacted them to let them know about the issues and they asked that I call and talk to them. However, I have tried several times and left multiple messages with no response, so they obviously don't care that much.
