This has been one of our favorite restaurants since they opened. We had our rehearsal dinner there last Friday for 17 people and it was incredible. They were flexible with us on our customized menu and the service was great as always. Even the people who aren't big seafood eaters loved the food. The atmosphere there is great!! You really need to check this place out!!

Good service & a great dinner. Octopus, Oysters, salad & Scallops with a nice white wine and home made Ice Cream Sandwich.
I ate dinner at The Optimist with one guest. My salmon arrived raw. I sent it back, but they left my side dish on the table. While I waited, the side dish got cold. The salmon came back and was cooked, but had little flavor. No reason to rush back.. dissapointing.
We tried this spot for my birthday and it was a great idea! Great ambiance, food and service! We had oysters rockafeller and a salmon crustini for apps and they were both amazing. Flounder and swordfish for entrees were both delish as well. Server had great recommendations and was very knowledgeable about the menu. Large open restaurant and great patio ! We highly recommend but make reservations WELL in advance.
If you love seafood in Atlanta. It's a life changer.
I met my boyfriend for dinner and drinks at the optimist this past Tuesday. Not knowing much about it he walked in casually dressed with a hat and was immediately treated like crap. They were rude, unhelpful, sent him 3 different ways, someone took away his water because he wasn't in the right section. These guys know fish - and many other things. Even the hushpuppies are nothing to stay quiet about. And the service is top-notch. Be prepared to spend some do-re-mi, but if you fancy yourself a gastronome ... this place is helping to put Atlanta on the map as a serious diner's town.
Loved the atmosphere and the food was fantastic! Our waitress Morgan was very attentive. Will be back next time I'm in Atlanta.
