The Leaning Pear is owned and operated by Rachel and Matthew Buchanan, both native Texans and graduates of Texas A&M University. Upon graduation, the couple relocated to Perugia, Italy, to explore the tastes and techniques of Italian cuisine while teaching English for a year. They returned to the U.S. for Matthew to pursue a degree in Culinary Arts at the renowned Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. In 2012 my then boyfriend surprised me with a trip to Wimberley, for my birthday. We stopped at the Leaning Pear for lunch. The wait was over an hour in 100 degree temps that day. But it was worth the wait! The food was delicious. We still talk about the food. Hoping to eat there tomorrow on our way home.
Went with the family for Fathers Day, everything was tasty, service was great even though our reservation was 30 minutes prior to the kitchen closing. We weren't rushed at all, had an absolutely wonderful time!
The food, location and staff are excellent. It would be great if the menu included more vegetarian entrées and soups.

Wonderful food, great service and a great location! We had the rehearsal dinner for my wedding here and it was perfect! Can't recommend this place highly enough!
Great place to dine. If you consider Chili's to be the pinnacle of fine dining, this probably isn't for you. Fresh food, polite waitstaff, great atmosphere.
My sweet hubby brought me there for Valentine's day and I was so very pleased. I had the duck confit, which I had never had the opportunity to eat before and it was so amazing on a bed of greens and with roasted grapes. The duck fat was the most divine thing I have ever tasted. When they offered me the dessert menu, I asked if there was duck fat on the menu. Ha ha! Just joking, but not really.
Had a wonderful dinner (special of the day) pecan crusted cod, spinach and pureed sweet potatoes. Accompanied by a french wine and fabulous dessert. Special thanks to our waitress "Lara" who made our night with her superb suggestions and exceptional service. Ask for her and tip her well! I'll be back!!
