Your response should have been a reminder or training on the appropriate response from an employee in these situations or at the most a verbal warning. To fire a man after 10 years of service, who YOU just awarded Cashier of the Month, for receiving a vicious verbal, racist assault from a customer, when he ironically was upholding your other store policy of no unleashed dogs, just follows the bizarre, horrifying world we live in. You just lost my business and I suspect you bought yourself a protest.
Home Depot sides with white supremacists and fascists over its own employees. A white supremacist customer unleashed a racist tirade against one of Home Depot's employees, and when the employee politely stood up for himself, Home Depot fired him! I can't believe you fell for that racist's game. That guy probably went after your employee, to get him fired. You fired a victim of a hate crime and gave the racist exactly what they wanted. To fire Maurice Rucker, an excellent longtime employee is inexcusable---particularly when he was responding to racist abuse from a customer. I will not shop at this or any Home Depot until Mr. Rucker is rehired or otherwise compensated to his satisfaction. Further, the abusive customer, who I believe is known to you, should be banned from the store.
