About this business

The Guenther House makes its home in an elegant historic mansion on the property of Pioneer Flour Mills in the historic King William area. From its not-so-humble beginnings as the home of Carl Hilmer Guenther in 1860, it has been restored into one of the more unique dining experiences in the city. The breakfast menu (served all day) offers Southern Sweet Cream Waffles and breakfast tacos, among other items. At lunch, choose from such entries as Champagne Chicken Enchiladas and Pioneer Taco Salad.

Refused to let me make a reservation early in the week. Showed up and have waited over 2 hours - still no table. Thanks for ruining my husband’s birthday.

Understandably things are weird right now with Covid19. But if you’re going to be one of the restaurants to open, at least make it an enjoyable experience for the customers that WILL come support you. TWO PLUS hour wait wouldn’t have been so bad if after we had been sat the service was better. I felt terrible for our waiter who was running around so stressed because he was the only one attending all the outside tables on a Sunday. Really? It made it an awkward situation all around. Have been coming here since I was a kid. The Guenther House never ever disappoints. The food and the service is consistently phenomenal. Their sweet cream waffle has always been life changing. Even with everything going on with COVID they didn't sacrifice anything in quality. Thanks for being a part of our family weekend Guenther House!

The 1851 Breakfast Platter was awesome! I'm normally not a fan of biscuits, but theirs had to be the best biscuits I've ever had!!! My only complaint is that my wife and I originally got on their online waiting list and was told it was a one hour, fifteen minute wait upon calling the restaurant. Two hours later, we finally sat at our table...to their credit, the food did come out in a good time and it was delicious!!!
